I somehow ended up with a bunch of Sinn watches and really wanted to try the 256. I like my 303 and always thought it was like a smaller version (these are 38mm v 41mm).

But.. I’m a sucker for the blocky lugs of the X03 series so the more slender style of the 256 doesn’t look as good to my eye.

I bought a NOS bracelet for it (all brushed) so that’ll be included as well. But no box or papers.

Winds and sets well. Very smooth. Smoother than my 303 and one of my older 103s. However, I haven’t timed it, don’t claim it to be water resistant and recommend having it checked out before you rigorously use.

Case condition: It’s bead blasted so the condition is very good without many scrapes or scratches. BUT there’s an ever so slight “dent” on the bottom of the case in the “non drive” side. I have no idea how that could have happened. It wasn’t me since I’ve probably worn only 3 or 4 times.

Sinn Spezialuhren GmbH is a manufacturer of mechanical wristwatches based in Frankfurt am Main. The company was founded in 1961 by flight instructor and pilot Helmut Sinn under the name ‘Helmut Sinn Spezialuhren’.

Following its foundation in 1961, the company focused on the manufacture of navigation cockpit clocks and pilot chronographs and sold these through direct selling, bypassing retailers. The clocks and watches were produced according to pilot Helmut Sinn’s specifications in the private label sector in Switzerland. By eliminating the trade margin of the retailers, the company was able to offer its clocks and watches at a lower price than through traditional sales channels.

In 1994, Helmut Sinn sold the company to Lothar Schmidt. Following the sale, he acquired Swiss watchmaker Guinand in 1996. In 1998, he set up a new company in Frankfurt am Main. With this company, he offered brand watches from Jubilar, Chronosport and the newly acquired Guinand. In 2006, he retired from business activity. Since handing over the management of the business to his long-standing employee Horst Hassler, he now acts as an advisor to the company. On September 3rd 2016 Helmut Sinn celebrated his 100th birthday.
