Dial / Crystal: Slate-grey “reverse panda” dial is in excellent condition. White printed text is extremely sharp. Outer tachymeter scale. Tritium lume outside the hour markers and within the minute and hour hands is excellent. Subsidiary seconds and 45-minute registers. Crystal is excellent.

Movement: Valjoux cal. 7730

Case / Crown: Rhodium plated case measures 36 x 38mm with a slim profile of12mm. Lug width is 20mm. Breitling signed crown.

Bracelet: The original owner’s leather strap, with cracks, is currently installed; it has no inherent value.

Accessories: None

Condition: The watch is in very good condition. The casewear suggests this Breitling Top Time was thoroughly enjoyed by its original owner while at the same time being very well cared for. Sourced from the family of the original owner, this timepiece was fully serviced in 2023 while in my possession.

Comments: The Breitling Top Time was introduced in 1964 and was in production until the late 1970s. Fun fact: The cousin to Ref. 2007, Breitling Reference 2002, was seen in the 1965 James Bond film, Thunderball. In the movie, Sean Connery wears a a Top Time modified by Q; it doubles as Geiger counter as Bond is in Nassua on a mission to locate two stolen atomic bombs. The Top Time used in the film (the only one created for the movie) disappeared soon after filming was completed. The watch resurfaced over 45 years later and was offered at auction in June 2013, where it sold at Christie’s London for $103,875 GBP.
