LIP is the epitome of French watchmaking. The company was founded as a watchmaker’s workshop in 1867 by Emmanuel Lipmann. A few years later, in 1904, Lipmann partnered with Pierre and Marie Curie to develop the first radium-based phosphorescent dials. In the 1930s, LIP became the largest manufacturer in its country, producing over 40,000 watches per day. During this era, the company created the legendary T18 caliber, which powered the watch Charles de Gaulle gave to Winston Churchill after World War II. But in-house calibers and radium dials weren’t the only innovations LIP was aiming for. Under the wing of Fred Lip, it’s also responsible for inventing the first electronic watch in 1952, although it only hit the market in 1958. The watch you see here is a LIP Standard from the late 1940s/early 1950s. It’s powered by the in-house LIP R25 caliber, a 17-jewel design with a power reserve of 38 hours. It features the coolest radium indexes I’ve even seen. Heck, they even look like pretzels under a loupe. But there’s more to it. Check the anti-magnetic protector – it literally says “Don’t Touch Me. Take Me To Your Watchmaker”. It’s evident this one isn’t for beginners! Comes with a period-correct Fixoflex expansible bracelet. **Condition:** Very good , with gorgeous-looking patina on the dial and risp radium indexes. **Case Size:** 32.8 x 42.3 mm. Wears larger due to the long lugs. **Movement:** LIP R25, 17 jewels, 18,000 bph, 38 hour power reserve. Was recently serviced. **Other information:** * Comes with a period-correct FixoFlex bracelet. **Price:** Asking 420$. Add 80$ for worldwide shipping via UPS. [Pictures](https://imgur.com/a/89Z06ko) [Timestamp](https://imgur.com/a/mNFU5T7)
