Produced from the late 1960s, this model represents the early application of Taro Tanaka’s Grammar of Design, a foundation that continues to shape modern Grand Seiko case design. The watch is powered by the manual-wind Caliber 4522, a true Hi-Beat movement running at 36,000 vph, featuring hacking seconds and an instant-change date. It is widely respected for its precision and technical achievement, even by modern standards. The stainless steel case showcases sharp planes, mirror-polished flat surfaces, and strong geometry that define the 45GS line. Measuring approximately 36.5mm with a slim profile, 41mm lug-to-lug distance and 18mm lug width, it wears comfortably and retains elegant vintage proportions. The dial is clean and restrained, with beautifully finished applied indices and faceted hands that interact with light in a distinctly Grand Seiko manner.
