For sale is this vintage Seiko "Type-II" (7546-8000), made in Japan in June of 1977. The Type-II series by Seiko was aimed at making a quartz series of quality that was more affordable than the QT/QR/QZ cal.38 and cal.48 series that preceded it despite most of the line being more expensive than the automatic offerings at the time. They were slimmer and more playful than the 38 series, often with exclusive colour ways and dials. This example, reference number QHK152, is a beautiful design that has Grand Seiko styling cues in my opinion. This watch is unique however as it has the case of the QHK152 (7546-8000) with the dial and hands of a QHK052 (7546-8080), both watches with green dials from the same year and same movement except the dial of the latter is a fumé (gradient) green rather than just standard green so we get the best of both worlds. The dial, as stated, is a stunning fumé (gradient) green that fades to black towards the edges, giving it a subtle depth. The dauphine hands are high-polish with a white centre for legibility and attention to detail. The stick baton markers follow the styling of high-polish sides and a white centre. The Seiko logo and single-crystal quartz symbol are applied while the rest of the print is in white. The Suwa swirl logo on the dial and case back indicate that the watch was designed and manufactured by the Suwa factory during their fierce rivalry with the Daini factory.  The case is in great shape with high-polish sides and bezel, and a brushed top face. The watch is in better condition than in the pictures in my opinion due to the strong lighting conditions that emphasise the scratches on the high-polish facets. The case profile follows the Grand Seiko design philosophy, and in particular draws similarities to the Grand Seiko 44GS case.  The calibre 7546 movement is in a unique green colour, is neatly packaged and runs great. The seconds hand satisfyingly hits every minute marker. The day wheel can display either Japanese Kanji or English where the days are in black except for Saturday in blue and Sunday in red. Comes on a brand-new soft and supple anti-allergic black leather strap.
