For sale is this vintage Seiko "5" (5126-8110), made in Japan in December of 1968. The condition is fantastic for an almost 60 year-old watch. The famous Seiko 5 series was introduced in just 5 years prior to this watch in 1963 with the core principles of every Seiko 5 watch to be automatic, have a day/date function, have water resistance, a recessed crown at 4 o'clock and to be durable for everyday wear, which still caries on to this day. This example has a silvery white sunburst dial in almost spotless condition with the unique point being the inverted dotted minute track in black - very '60s. The hands and applied indices are faceted and in stainless steel to match the case. The Seiko logo, the classic "5" logo, the Daini lightning symbol and print at the bottom are in black. The day/date window has many sides and is very high-quality with the precise steel work. The date has a negative black background while the days are on a white background (days of the week are in black except Sunday in red). The calibre 5126 is a work-horse movement keeps good time and was only produced for a short number of years despite having a very nifty feature where by pushing the crown in, it quick changes the date with each push. The day is slow-setting. The case has classic Seiko angles and sits very nicely on the wrist. The lugs cut in to the middle towards the centre of the watch which is a subtle but interesting design choice that creates a kind of "X" shape. Comes on an original vintage Seiko 5 bracelet that appears, from the catalog photo, to not be originally from this watch design but it does come from another Seiko 5 that was released at the same time. Can accommodate up to roughly a 17cm wrist. Watch is in great condition considering its age and runs decent too. I checked it on the time-grapher and it appears to be running within 20 seconds per day at the time of writing so I don't think it really requires a service or it may have even been serviced recently before I acquired it.
