Hi watch fam, up for sale/trade is my beloved daily Grand Seiko JDM SBGX121. I haven't seen another one other than mine out in the wild, there is one or maybe two other examples of this watch out for sale from Japan. So this is the only example on the web in the states. Asking for $1900 shipped, watch was serviced by Grand Seiko service studio in Jersey in late Dec 2024. Comes with GS studio service receipt, stock OEM bracelet that can fits up to 8" wrist, currently sized snuggly for my 6.25", inner and outter box , instruction manual and two extra aftermarket Uncle Seiko bracelets that fit with the OEM endlinks perfectly for summer time if you need the extra flexibility of clasp micro adjustment. Only really interested in time only 32-34mm watches, like the sbgx349, nomos club sport 34mm, feel free to reach out for a possible trade deal. Backstory of the 121: Someone once asked why the sbgx121 is special? Well, who doesn't love the older dual-logo Grand Seikos—it feels a bit empty above the 6 o’clock marker without it. It’s also important to note that the SBGX119 and 121, along with the 115 and 117, were the last four 9F61 watches released in 2015 with dual old logo. In 2017, Seiko relaunched and moved upmarket with the single GS logo. There were no new releases in 2016. That makes the SBGX121 one of the last "youngest" 9F61 watches with the classic dual-logo design. Seiko re-released the SBGX119 and 121 as the SBGX319 and 321 in 2017. However, there were no design changes—just the transition to the new single-logo branding. Speaking of dimensions, it has a 37mm case like my SBGX261, but with a more compact 42.9mm lug-to-lug. The lugs are 18mm, not 19mm, and it wears smaller than the 26X series. The domed crystal gives off a strong '60s Madison Avenue vibe, and since it’s all dial with no bezel, legibility is excellent. So here we are—a modern, durable 9F61 watch. Unlike the older SBGX009 (which I love!), I don’t have to worry about water resistance. I sent the 121 in to the Grand Seiko Service Studio for a full inspection and overhaul. They replaced the gasket, stem, and crown—and even sent back the old parts for safekeeping. Passed the official rating of 10 bars WR with flying colors! This is a low-key GADA with class and accuracy—something that will last for decades. The ruggedness of the 9F61 movement, along with Seiko’s promise of 30 years of guaranteed parts availability after the movement’s end of life, the 9f61 still is the only time-only quartz movement , so I can see it will be in production for the near future for at least minimum of 5-10 years, which means this watch could outlast anyone of us with proper care. So why am I thinking to sell? Well, for years I thought 36mm-38mm was the obsolete sweet spot for my pencil wrist, but having owning the nomos 35mm to the nomos 33 and having the recently acquired sbgx347 that is 34mm. Turned out I really like the proportion of 34mm watches! ( Also just put in the kurono 34mm project watch). So I'm leaning toward that range of watches .
