I am posting this more to put it out there than anything else. I love the watch and will happily keep it, but there is always something else calling out wanting to be purchased, so here we are. This Omega Speedmaster 145.012 has been quite a project watch for me. When I received it, the lume was flaking off, the case was beaten up pretty badly, and the watch barely ran. The bezel and crown had been replaced with service parts at some point as well and the original bracelet was long gone.
Over the next six months, I had TM Watch Co refinish the case, repair the movement, and add an original crown in the process. I really wanted to get an original DON bezel, but to get a new one would be more than the watch was worth, so I went with the best reproduction I could find from Spiralwinder. The dial went across the pond to best relumer in the business, The Alchemist Relumer, who used tritium to replace the original. Since this would never be a museum piece, I also went ahead and got a display caseback from Spiralwinder so the 321 movement could be seen in all its glory. Finally, the crystal was replaced with a NOS old-style logo hesalite crystal and a flat link bracelet from the 50th anniversary moonwatch. To me this is the perfect Speedy. Maybe you do too.
The watch comes with the old crown and bezel as well as movement parts, the case back, and an old omega box. I will also throw in an Uncle Seiko flat link bracelet if you want a more original jangly bracelet experience.
The service papers are dated 09/2024.
