Ladies and Gentleman, Greetings from the hills of Tennessee! This is an excellent opportunity to own a rare vintage Omega Seamaster with amazing and beautiful one of a kind patina! This original "Seamaster Special" with the large hippocampus medallion on the back was sold by Omega for a short time in the late 1950s. The serial number dates this watch to Circa 1958. The mottled cream dial with flacks of grey gives this watch mesmerizing unique look that is accentuated by the matching strap. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the small gray specks on the dial match the gray hue of the suede strap. Also the cream contrast stitching matches the dial perfectly. It's amazing to see, and because of this unique patina and amazing overall condition of the watch I have hesitated quite a bit to part with this piece. The original lume filled markers having aged to a dark brown and the Omega signed crystal make this watch even that much more "special." The size wears well on a variety of wrists and is quite large compared to most standard SM automatic model from the 1950s. It sports a diameter of 35mm and a lug to lug length of over 43mm! Service/polishing history is unknown. The case is probably unpolished with sharp, defined edges on the case lugs. There is a small case imperfection to note underneath the top left lug (10 o'clock lug). Probably due to a knife slip trying to open the snap caseback in the past. There are a couple of small cracks around the edges of the crystal (particularly at 3 o'clock), but it is signed with the Omega logo and is likely original from the factory, so I think it should probably be left as is, imho. The original Caliber 500 movement looks clean (aside from some oxidation on the outer edge of the rotor) and is keeping very good time: ~20 seconds per day with an amplitude of ~250 (ymmv). **All pictures are of the actual watch band you will receive.
