The Rolex features a gold capped steel case, which is accented by a fixed smooth polished yellow gold bezel. The Oyster Date is mounted on its original gold shell C&I Rolex USA rivet Oyster bracelet, which contains 12 full size links, will comfortably fit a 7.25 inch wrist, and is stamped with a 1978 clasp code date. The Rolex features a silver sunburst dial with applied polished yellow gold stick hour markers, gold tritium coated hands, and a magnified date window aperture at 3 o’clock. The tritium lume plots and hands have developed a warm custard-colored patina with age, which is even in color and richness. The movement used in the 1550 is the Rolex Caliber 1570, which features approximately 48 hours of power reserve.

Condition:
The case retains evenly thick lugs, and the gold cap remains strong with no steel showing through. The rivet Oyster bracelet has been well-preserved, containing minimal stretch, while the yellow gold cap has acquired a light rose gold-colored oxidation with age. Overall, the Oyster Date is in excellent vintage condition and is a wonderful example of a late production Oyster Perpetual Date reference 1550.
