Hey r/watchexchange, I've got a very cool vintage piece here for your consideration. It's a 1984 Seiko Speedtimer quartz chronograph, model 7A38-6040. This was the cousin of the Seiko 7A28 movement, the first analog quartz movement developed in the early 80s. Unlike quartz movements today which are largely designed to be disposable, the 7A38 was a proper jeweled movement that is built to last. * Case size is 36mm in diameter, 44mm lug to lug, 18mm lug width and 11mm tall. In a world of beef chronos, this is super understated and wearable. * Packs a lot of info into a very legible dial: English/Kanji day-date, small seconds at 6 o'clock, tenths of a second for the chrono at 3 o'clock and minutes for the chrono on the 9 o'clock dial. * Sports a mineral crystal which has been polished. * Bi-directional bezel shows some cosmetic wear, but turns readily and adds to the vintage appeal. * Hits the markers and the pushers work well. * The case is unpolished and has some wear you might expect on a 40-year-old watch, but nothing you'd notice on-wrist. * Comes with original bracelet with Speedmaster on the clasp and an extra link.
