1967 Rolex Explorer 1016 with Box, Papers and Service Papers $24,950 “Less is more” - such is the case for the Explorer reference 1016. Very good vintage condition, with thick, sharp lugs and bezel. Original mark 1 “frog foot” dial, named as such for the crown on the dial bearing similarities to a frog’s foot. The lume on both the dial and the hands, when exposed to UV light, glows briefly and then dies down within a few seconds — correct for this serial era. Also known as “day glow” due to the mixture of zinc sulfide in the lume, which can appear a slight greenish color to it. For the most part, this watch has gorgeous patina on the dial and hands. The watch was sent to LA Watchworks for a full overhaul, and hour hand relumed with period correct luminous material. The watch comes with its original rivet bracelet, boxes, chronometer certificate, original guarantee booklet (punched serial).
