For sale is this vintage Seiko "Chariot" (4130-8000), made in Japan in September of 1975. The "Chariot" dress watch series by Seiko is known for their thinness, elegant design and high-quality quartz movements. This example, reference number CNA043, is absolutely stunning with its looks through simplicity. The dial is the star of the show with a textured almost meteorite-style brown that has an unexplainable depth akin to the Morpho Butterfly dial version of the Seiko Superior which contrasts nicely with the white pencil hands for legibility. The stick baton indices are high-polish on the sides and have a white centre for attention to detail and legibility. The Seiko logo, single-crystal quartz symbol, Suwa swirl symbol and text at the bottom of the dial are in white. The Suwa swirl logo indicates that the watch was designed and manufactured by the Suwa factory during their fierce rivalry with the Daini factory.  The case is in fantastic shape with all the sheen from the factory polish still mostly intact. I think there is something respectable about getting the simple design of this fundamental wrist watch shape so right. It all comes down to the small details in the angles, bevels and the proportions. There's a very fine line between a boring design and an elegant design that this watch manages to stay firmly on the correct side of.  The calibre 4130 movement was, at the time of its release in 1973, used by Seiko to brag creating "The World's Thinnest Quartz Watch" in advertisements. It was also the first quartz movement that was possible to produce in volumes. The watch is in great shape considering it is 50 years old. As mentioned above, the case is in fantastic shape, the dial is spotless although the crystal has some light scratches.  Comes on a brand-new lizard-style leather strap.
