Hi everyone! To free up more funds for other ‘life’ purchases, I’m putting up my beautiful Omega Constellation Pie Pan in 18K solid yellow gold. This is the more sought-after reference 167.005-6 (no date) variation, with the caliber 551 movement. The popularity and significance of the “Pie Pan” is well known, and this one is no exception—it’s such a pretty piece in person! It has a great weight to it thanks to its pure gold body/case both front and back. There is also intrinsic value to 18K gold itself. The well-proportioned 35mm dimension (excluding the crown), signature dog-legged lugs, and flat profile makes for an excellent dressy statement piece. The white sunburst dial is as clean as you can get on these references. Apart from some fine natural spot patina (which I have tried my best to capture) that is hardly visible on the wrist, the dial is super well preserved, with all the tritium lume plots intact. There is also no signs of oxidation on the gold hands or indexes either. Movement also runs perfectly with recent service less than 6 months ago. Its beefy gold case has definitely seen polishing in its lifetime, but all edges (where they should be) are clear and well-defined. The gold Observatory emblem on the case is also very sharp with original textures in the background. Its crown is also original (10-sided) and period correct! I’ve paired it with a new faux-alligator style leather strap in a beautiful dark brown colour. I would like to think that this example is almost “Omega Enthusiast-worthy”!
