Unlike the sportier or more casual models of the time, this watch featured a refined and conservative aesthetic, drawing inspiration from the 1960s Omega dress watch designs. This shift in styling aligned with Seiko’s ambition to cater to professionals seeking a reliable yet elegant timepiece. One of the key upgrades in this model was the introduction of the caliber 8305C, an automatic movement running at 18,000 beats per hour (bph) and produced by Suwa Seikosha. Unlike earlier 830 and 840 models, which had their crowns positioned at 4 o’clock, the addition of manual winding capability in the 8305C led to the crown being repositioned to the more conventional 3 o’clock placement for easier operation. The watch itself measures 34mm in diameter, with an 18mm lug width. The silver dial, finished with a radial brushed texture, features applied steel baton markers that enhance its understated elegance. A domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, while a single-bevel bezel frames it, maintaining the classic vintage appeal. On the caseback, Seiko’s iconic dolphin engraving serves as a signature detail of the Seikomatic line. This watch is in great original condition for a watch of nearly 60 years old, showing only light scratches on the case. It has been recently serviced and is keeping great time. The watch doesn’t come with original bracelet though I have put in a premium leather strap from Hoa Sa. Standard watch box will be provided upon purchasing.
