Up for your consideration is my personal original 52-0110 Citizen Challenge Diver. This is the real deal one that is extremely hard to find in this condition. If you want to see a video review of this (actual) watch, I filmed it here as Citizen released the re-issue Fujitsubo:
And here is a review of this watch and my new Fujitsubo:
Let me tell you a little about this actual watch. First of all, it is a workhorse. And to make this specific watch that much better, it was serviced several years ago (paperwork included). This particular watch could be worn as a daily, although I don’t, but it is a pretty accurate and well running watch. Especially as a vintage piece. When I do rarely wear it, I will wear it for several days and runs within a few seconds a day.
This watch is a rare bird because you can see the case has not been polished. It still retains the original case finishing on the top of the lugs, and polishing on the sides of the case. This is extremely rare as so many of these cases have been polished on the entire case over the years.
The bezel insert is one of the best you will find these days that are original. Usually in used copies you will find that the inserts are super scratched and finding an aftermarket OEM insert is near impossible these days. The bezel is bidirectional and has great tension for its age.
The watch comes with the original scratched mineral crystal (separate) but has an upgraded sapphire crystal. Over the years I have owned (4) 52-0110’s and some years ago I sourced a sapphire upgrade. Do not ask me who I got it from, it was some eBay seller years ago but I always kept it to upgrade the best 52-0110 I could find (which was this one specifically). I am not sure you will ever find another sapphire crystal for the original 52-0110 again. This has the dome on the inside of the crystal just like the original mineral one. It is amazing. And, now this watch has the protection of an actually sapphire crystal which you can’t say for most of these vintage models!
The watch comes on an original citizen bracelet (off a model NY0040, not original to this watch) which pair perfectly and is sized to a 7.25in wrist, and has the divers extension. It will come with a vintage tropic strap which I love to wear it with to feel “old school” at times.
As you can clearly see, this dial and handset is very nice for a vintage citizen. There is very little pitting on the handset or indices.
The only negative I will report on this watch is the crown tube. It is short, so there is only about a full turn to lock down the original crown. If it was 1980 and I was looking for water resistance, this would not be cool. But in 2024/2025, you shouldn’t wear this in the water or swimming or in the shower at all! It’s a nice 40yr old+ vintage watch, keep away from water! This should be common knowledge!
This is an amazing timepiece. I am not in any hurry to sell this one. It’s been in my personal collection for years, but I am trying to move away from some vintage pieces into more modern watches. It took me a long time to find this watch, so low ballers will be politely ignored.
$1100 via PayPal, Venmo or Zelle (PayPal fees and shipping USPS in CONUS INCLUDED!). If you are outside of the US just message me and I can give you a shipping rate.
I have bought and sold a lot here on WUS, and I am trying to transition away from eBay (fees). I am “blaker333” on eBay too, you can message me there as well. I have 20+yrs of selling experience there with 100% positive feedback. I am sure I am not the only one trying to move away from eBay’s high fees.
Thanks for the consideration and please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have.
