My love for the Rolex Explorer 1 is well documented - it’s 3-6-9 dial perfection! The ref 214270 seen here was Rolex stepping outside the box just a bit, going from the classic 36MM up to 39MM. This ref came out in 2010, lasting 11 years. But what we have here is the MK2 dial that ran for only 5 of those years starting in 2016. With the MK2 Rolex extended the handset to even out the overall look, and most importantly went full lume on the numerals, which is a beautiful thing! This example’s from 2020, just one year before they discontinued the run, and comes in a full AD set! REFERENCE: 214270 SERIAL: Scrambled 89510XXX DATE: 2020 DIAL: 3-6-9 for the win! Here coming in more of a matte black, again with the full lumed numerals, and this one’s mint, including the sapphire crystal. CASE: 39mm stainless case bringing more wrist presence while staying extremely comfortable (photographed on my 6.6 inch wrist.) VERY clean example, some light micro scratches in the regular spots like the smooth bezel and case sides, but all in looks incredible! MOVEMENT: Another upgrade brought to this ref is the automatic caliber 3132, where the crown brought in the blue Parachrom hairspring and upgraded shock absorption. They also dialed in the accuracy post 2015, and that is definitely seen here with perfect timegrapher numbers showing 0 seconds per day with an amplitude of 302! BRACELET/STRAP: Comes on its original Rolex oyster bracelet that can fit up to app 7.5 inches. Light wear on the bracelet, mostly on the clasp, but also looks fantastic. Also comes on a nearly new Everest leather strap with curved ends, fitting the oyster case perfectly and taking this from day to night! ACCESSORIES: Box & card AD set - green Rolex box, date stamped AD card, booklets, and both hang tags - this is how ya wanna find ‘em!
