Good evening, WatxhEx! Just one tonight - a scarce LE from microbrand sensation Zelos: the Spearfish GMT in "Frost." I'll be honest, Zelos was never a brand that I sought out - in the many watch related FB groups I'm in, I always felt like they were everywhere, but weren't anything special. Well, call it blissful ignorance or stubborn watch-snobbitis - because I love this thing. Zelos is somewhat of a one-man-show, being one of the most successful products ever originated from Kickstarter. Elshan Tang has a keen eye for watch design, and pumps out a few models every year with some bold colors, elaborate dials, and truly unique flair. This Spearfish GMT has a lot to offer - and being backed with a tried-and-true Sellita SW330 GMT movement makes this one hell of a package. The dial is finely finished in - I'm not really sure what to call it, but the detail is very impressive. It's sort of an opaline/silver with a subtle sun ray effect, and is really reminiscent of a fresh layer of frost. The contrast of gunmetal hour markers and hands is a nice touch for high legibility, and the hints of ice-blue tie the theme together nicely. I'm a sucker for a well-designed case, and this one feels almost Christopher Ward C60-ish, save for the vertical brushed finish in place of horizontal - it takes this one step higher with a hardened steel case that's much more resistant to scratching. The bracelet is high quality, and the glide-lock-esque micro adjustment is really well done.
