This vintage Seastar 1000 is from the early 2000s and many say it was among the first in the new generation of Tool Watches. 44mm without the crown or crown guard and 50mm long at the stout lugs. Nice curvature to the lug shape makes the watch sit just fine on even my 6.75". 22mm lugs, nothing funky. Endless possibilities for straps if thats your thing. Nice domed sapphire crystal is in perfect shape. Bezel actuates concise and smooth with the perfect amount of resistance/tension. Not sloppy at all.
I've owned a version of this watch 5-6 times over the time that its been on the market and I have to say, outside of the obvious look of the machined bezel, unique hands and sunburst dial, my favorite characteristic is the offset "port" glass window... notice how its not centered in the case back.
Included with the watch is the ORIGINAL factory bracelet with all links with functional divers extension in all but new condition, a vintage Isofrane inspired 22mm FKM rubber strap that really suites the watch perfectly that I fitted a signed Tissot buckle to. Original box, no papers.
I can't say this is the nicest Seastar 1000 from their era, but it's one of the nicest examples I've owned. Lume is still there, not amazing, but better than many
The Eta 2824 is a welcome return to quality movements. So much more reliable than the current Powermatic 80 used by so many watches under the Swatch umbrella. It's keeping great time but no service history while I've had it. Winds and sets very smooth with no slop either
Long and short of it, this watch ticks so many boxes. It's vintage but stout and chunky in a modern size. It's a cult classic and you can actually wear it but you'll likely never see anyone else with one. There's a couple on eBay as high as $700.00. Many are the versions with the painted bezel that are all chipped. My understanding is Tissot discovered how poorly the paint was wearing in the first year and switched to a non painted version.
At this time, I'm not looking for any trades as I have my eye on a grail that I've lusted after for 20+ years. I think I have this priced very fair for a reasonably fast sale even post holidays when we're all broke
