First released in 1999 as Parmigiani Fleurier’s first tonneau shaped watch, the Ionica 8-day exhibits the brand’s signature Doric styling details, like the double stepped coin edged bezel, paired with Parmigiani’s first true in-house mechanical movement, the caliber PF110, that is impressively finished and shaped to perfectly fit its case. **Case:** the 34 x 45 x 11 mm solid white gold case is in very good condition and free of any notable defects, though minor surface swirls may be present, as pictured.  The case has a definite heft and presence that almost makes you think it might be platinum upon picking it up.  The hallmarks and engravings are all very deep and crisp, as pictured. **Dial:** The matte black dial is lightened in color due to the guilloche pattern throughout that catches more light, with an intricate pattern to be appreciated by the wearer, or under a loupe. This serves as a subtle backdrop to the highly polished Breguet numerals, distinctly shaped spade hands, and very clean vertically stacked layout of the power reserve indicator, signature, and sub seconds register. The dial and hands are free from any defects. **Movement**: The manually wound PF110 is nothing short of impressive. Parmigiani’s first true in-house movement that was also specifically designed for the case shape and makes excellent use of that real estate, showcasing the impressive finishing throughout, including plenty of interior angles and anglage. The watch features a quickset date, swan’s neck regulator, and is winding, setting, and running smoothly, at approximately – 2 s/d, averaged across 6 positions.  Service history is unknown.  **Includes:**  The watch is presented on an aftermarket black leather strap with it’s original, signed, white gold buckle.
