Classy with just the right amount of funk, the Blancpain Villeret Ultra Slim is a thing of beauty. At first glance, it’s a classic white dial Roman numeral gold watch. But then you notice the offset sub seconds, turn it over and you see that sweet movement through the assymeyrical sapphire caseback. So many great design details and all that in a solid 18k gold watch from the oldest watch brand, with an automatic movement (freshly serviced here) for around 4k! This 90s beauty represents an interesting time in Blancpain’s history as well, not long after it was revived by Jean-Claude Biver as the industry was coming out of the quartz crisis and craving mechanical marvels like this. Light wear, given the age, with beautiful rosy patina forming on the gold and sharp lines and brushing throughout. Photographed on my 6.6 inch wrist, given the ultra slim profile and thin bezel, wears more like a 36MM Datejust.
