These pieces are from the GDR times of Glashütte behind the iron curtain and are the inspiration for many of the modern GO watches. They do come with a rich independent history at a much smaller price point. I only offer watches that are running. However, I always recommend having the watch serviced before regular use. This is one of the rarest watches I’ve offered so far – a Glashütte timepiece from the 1950s. It’s extremely rare due to its very short production period. The movement is based on the Urofa 58 caliber, also known as the Raumnutzwerk. What makes this watch particularly special is that after the end of World War II, this movement design was reused – but in doing so, a patent was violated, as the rights to the Raumnutzwerk were never officially transferred to the Glashütte watchmaking combine (GUB). As a result, only a small number of these watches were ever produced – and this particular variant is among the most sought-after. It’s a beautiful and classic watch from a fascinating period in Glashütte’s horological history. The condition is overall good, with wear on the case and crystal. The case back is stainless steel, and as far as I can tell, the strap appears to be original. The blued hands are absolutely stunning, and the watch features a very elegant and timeless design.
