Hello! Up for sale is an interesting watch that has a lot of great history and a unique story. This is a Zenith Sporto. However, it’s a bit more complicated than that, because Zenith was actually rebranded as Movado for US imports in the 70’s. This is made more interesting due to the Zenith star logo, and the Movado name on the dial. It turns out, that in the 70’s, Zenith was looking to break into the US market, but had little to no brand recognition here. So, their best bet, they figured, was to use their recently purchased brand, Movado, to sell their Zenith watches to the American Market. So essentially, what you have here is a Zenith Sporto, from 1973, with the 2562c handwind movement, which is a very robust and outstanding vintage handwinder, inside of a gold plated Zenith case, but with the word “Movado” stamped on the dial, right underneath the Zenith logo. An interesting combination of watch history and marketing strategy. \------ So with that story out of the way, what we have is a great vintage piece, with a fantastic movement, that’s in pretty beautiful shape. The watch does have some pitting/scratching on the case, and on the underside of the lugs, there is even a bit of the plating missing. This watch has not been polished, and years of nice vintage “patina” gives it some great character. The acrylic crystal is new, and has no scratches as far as I can see. The only real nuisance on this one is that the crown looks a little funny, like the plating has worn off over the years of winding it daily. It functions great though. This watch is a 35mm case, but the classic C-Shaped case wears much bigger to me. My wrist is 7.2 inches for your reference, and I would say anyone with a wrist under 8 inches can easily pull this one off. The Caseback is engraved with a gift message, which reads: “H.J.M. SCHIRMER / IN APPRECIATION OF / 15 YEARS OF LOYALTY / AND WORK WELL DONE / 1973 / O.M. CORP LTD” \------- The watch comes on a new aftermarket black strap, with matching gold hardware. It will come with a watch travel pouch, but I have no original boxes or paperwork. It’s also running well for a watch from this long ago, averaging around plus 15, or so, seconds a day. The date flips over crisply at exactly 12am each day, and the movement looks and sounds fantastic. The servicing history of this is unknown, but it was told to me when I bought it, that it was serviced within the last 2 years, but I’m not going to tell you that I know that for certain. This is a harder watch to price, but I’m confident that it’s a great value at \*\*$300 shipped\*\* in the conUS OBO. I’ll take Paypal ff, zelle, or bitcoin if that’s your jam. I’m not really interested in trades at the moment, but if you have questions please let me know. Pictures and timestamp: [https://imgur.com/a/zUszz6m](https://imgur.com/a/zUszz6m)
