The watch is in flawless condition, with all functions working, and comes with full kit (box, papers, manual, tag). This watch cost 50,000 Yen back in 1990 as shown by the tag and you also see the original ad from the Seiko catalogue in the included photo album. This watch was a passion project for Seiko where they strived to cram in as many functions as possible while keeping the dial simple, elegant, and easy to read. The result was the “Dancing Hands” series; with only 2 hands, 2 pushers, and a crown, the watch has the following functions:

• Stopwatch & Timer-stopwatch
• Countdown Timer & Repeat Timer
• Alarm & Alarm Test System
• Demonstration Movement of the Hands AKA “Dancing Hands” Mode
• Antimagnetic to 60 gauss to protect against the magnetic fields commonly encountered in daily life, such as those from speakers, smartphones, or small magnets.
• Electronic Circuit Reset

The functions of the watch can be activated by rotating the crown. For a seemingly simple looking watch there’s a lot of attention to detail where even the timer and alarm chimes sound different so you can easily distinguish between the two. The stopwatch can measure up to 60 minutes with an accuracy of 1/5 second. Both the stopwatch and timer move in a smooth mecha-quartz sweep. When the Seiko 8M25 series debuted in 1988, it won the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) foundation’s Good Design Award program. This rare find was truly the smart watch of its time and a great piece of history.
