[WTS] Daniel Roth ‘Seconds at 6’ Ref 207 Large Model
[WTS] Daniel Roth ‘Seconds at 6’ Ref 207 Large Model
A very rare “Seconds at 6 o’clock” or “Small Seconds” Reference 207 in yellow gold, with the early and lesser seen “large seconds” dial that features a larger seconds subregister that overlaps the hour register. (A smaller seconds subregister contained within the hour register / main dial is more commonly seen.) I find the dial layout to be considerably more attractive providing additional use of the double ellipse shape and adding more complexity to the interrupted guilloche pattern. This example wears like an absolute dream, is in very sharp condition throughout, and remains one of the absolute gems of “The Hour Glass era” of the famed watchmaker. Case: The “large” size 35 × 38 × 10 mm case in yellow gold is believed to be unpolished and very sharp throughout with exceptionally crisp and well defined hallmarks. Dial: The signature guilloche dial and hands are in excellent condition and free of any defects. The early “large seconds” dial configuration is exceptionally rare, with only a few examples seen across all metals in online searches of the reference. The early 1995 ads from the watch confirm this layout. Movement: The JLC Caliber 891 is winding setting and running well, keeping great time. The later “small seconds” models seemingly used a Girard Perregaux 3100 base. Includes: Gator strap exhibiting wear and original signed buckle with well defined hallmarks. Price: $16,250 including insured shipping within the continental US, international shipping available at cost. ACH or wire, no trades please. I have references here, the forum, eBay, and Instagram (@)meticulist I get it, the double ellipse and vertical guilloche pattern can be polarizing at first. I wasn’t quite sure I got it from photos, but I have absolutely fallen hard for this watch in particular. The condition is exactly how I like them, unpolished and honest, exhibiting normal wear; not too clean you’re afraid to wear it, but in a condition you can still be very proud and will get your most stringent case stickler friends excited. This watch wears so well on a variety of wrists with the downturned lugs that hug the wrist very well. The warmth of the gold provides a great contrast to the dial and deeply saturated signature blued hands, bringing a huge smile to my face every time I check it.
