[WTS/WTT] Last of Its Kind: Tudor Prince Chrono 79270- Guilloche Oxblood
[WTS/WTT] Last of Its Kind: Tudor Prince Chrono 79270- Guilloche Oxblood
Greetings to all! Received breaking news recently that our little family is growing, so started thinking about the future a bit more and have decided to cut down on watches. Those watches just stayed in the box after trying it once or twice- never worn out of the house. I’ll take that as a very strong indication that the watches deserve someone who can spend more time with them- as I plan on spending more time with my future little one. On to the piece!: Daytona with character! Trades welcome on this, FYI. Received good interest, but buyers haven’t closed so will make available for community. Tudor has long been the more affordable younger brother to Rolex but with a similar level of quality that we’ve come to expect from the legendary brand. This chronograph is no exception, built as a little brother to the Daytona with a screw down crown and pushers, but a different dial layout from the reliable ETA 7750-based serviced movement ticking away strongly inside; no need to worry for years and with very little attention needed, if at all. This example is the 79270 reference. The rarest in the collection, and one that I cannot even find for sale anywhere else for years (if you do, share my way!). It brings a bidirectional rotating 12-hour timing bezel (most in this line are the typical tachy, and quite impractical compared to the hour bezel IMO) and a case with brushed lugs. The star of the show is the dial, an absolutely gorgeous dark red oxblood/burgundy color. This dial combo is the rarest in the entire ‘90s chronograph collection. It features an outward-radiating guilloche pattern, subtly segmented into 12 perfectly portioned sections that varies from almost invisible in low light to a dazzling display of textures and hues in direct light. The subdials are finished in their own concentric guilloche pattern in a slightly darker hue, and the hands, hour markers and outer track are all finished in a perfectly contrasting stark white. I guarantee you will catch yourself getting lost at how gorgeous this dial is when on the wrist. The rest of the watch is no slouch either, with a beautiful condition case that shows minimal signs of wear as well as no signs of previous polishing. The lugs are super sharp, the pushers and crown all screw down and function exactly as they should, and the bidirectional timing bezel offers another functional element to an already functional watch. Condition is per the photos- and the best you’ll find for the watch available anywhere- and as follows: Case: 40mm stainless steel case in excellent condition as shown. The case shows only very minor signs of wear and is very sharp. Bezel: Black bidirectional 12-hour timing bezel in excellent condition free from scratches, dings, and marks. Dial/Hands: Rare oxblood guilloche dial with white printed arabic markers as described above. The dial is in perfect condition and free from flaws. The patterns are some you can find in makers like Breguet, Blancpain, Cartier, JLC, VC- and well executed. Rolex doesn’t do many guilloched watches like this anymore (except 1908 ref 52506 that comes to mind). Lume still lights well, so even more functional and unique. This dial and pattern isn’t the typical “make it for the sake of making it,” but honestly very well thought out and executed across the board. I have experienced some well-respected and sought out pieces, but this one is a catch above most for sure and highest in dial delivery. Crystal: Original sapphire crystal in excellent condition with no scratches, chips, or marks. Caseback: Steel Tudor marked caseback in very good condition with only very minor surface wear visible in the photos. Straps: The straps on these are a delight themselves! Originally, each of these came with their unique strap matching the specific dials. These are near impossible to find on their own now, but I was able to source for a collection of 2- with deployments for each as well! I also have a brand new premium bracelet to go along, which I totally forgot I even had after ordering and putting away. Asking $5,999 OBO + ship. I’ll be honest, this one was really hard for me to price so I’m just trying to recuperate what I spent on it all without any profit interest in mind (as I do with items in this hobby). If you happen to find the exact watch and accessories, I’m happy to discuss and meet at something that works. Open to trades ~$1.5K mark worth pieces, as I need more cash savings as noted. Interested in great condition Omegas, preferably with good lume like blue waved Peter Blake Thanks and happy to answer any questions!
