Hi crew! Now available is a beautiful, special example of the iconic Seiko “Capt. Willard” 6105-8110. This watch doesn’t need much of an introduction as it has developed a cult status among Seiko collectors. This particular watch has some interesting provenance – It was in the collection of Larry Bouligny of Uncle Seiko and was traded by him toward a Pelagos my friend owned so that he could prototype bracelets for it. Larry generally purchased / collected some of the best examples of the Willard that I ever saw, and this one is no exception. The watch is in excellent vintage condition. The case has normal, careful wear for its age but no major dents or dings – just a small one on the side of the case between 8 and 9 that I attempted to capture in the pictures. The bezel rotates firmly and the insert is in excellent condition with only faint marks and no major signs of wear. The crystal is flawless and the dial is beautiful. It has its original lume with no noticeable rot or significant degradation. The hands have some very light aging and the stoplight on the sweep seconds hand has faded to a very light salmon pink, which is what you normally see on these examples when they are untouched. The crown lock even still works! The movement hacks and the quickset date and natural date changeover work properly. I timed the movement between -19 to -33 s/d with 0.5 BE after hand rocking it for a minute or two to build the power reserve. Service history and water resistance is unknown. The watch will come as watch only on a Uncle Seiko U-link bracelet that should fit a 7” wrist snugly. It does not come with additional links. Note for vintage watches: I do my best to describe any watch I sell to the best of my ability, but old watches are like old cars – they can be temperamental, need service at any time, and are generally not as reliable or as precise as a modern watch. It should be assumed that unless I know the service history the watch will likely need a service if you plan to wear it frequently. Even post-service (depending on the watchmaker), vintage watches can still be less reliable than modern watches. Please understand this before buying a vintage watch in general! This is a beautiful, honest example with collector’s provenance and likely won’t last long. If you’ve been looking for one of these, this is your huckleberry! Not interested in trades on this one. Please message me with any questions or interest and thanks for looking!
