Hello,

I am selling my Seiko Type II from October 1977:

Sober and dressy watch, typical of the 70’s.
Model reserved for the Japanese market (JDM - Japan Domestic Market).
Pretty gray sunray aluminum dial, with applied logos and indexes.

It can be seen in volume 2 of the 1977 Seiko catalog (pages 9 and 11):

Rare model on the second-hand market, especially in this state of conservation and with its original bracelet!

CONDITION:

The watch is in very good condition / very well preserved for a 46 year old watch (See Photos).
Note inevitable wear marks on the case and the folding clasp.
The glass has no scratches.

WORKING ORDER:

The original movement works very well.
Crown deliberately pulled to take the photos.
New battery, changed at the end of February for sale.

OTHER:

No trace of oxidation.
The watch, including its bracelet (ref. XGA-611), is entirely original.
The bracelet is currently adjusted for a wrist of 16.5 / 17 cm. Note that there remains 1 fine adjustment hole at the buckle (+ 4 mm), and that I provide with the original extension, which fits into the folding clasp (+ 1.7 cm), itself equipped with a second spring extension (+ 1 cm), allowing it to be enlarged by + 3 cm in total.
The bracelet is complete, it is not designed to add/remove links as is usually the case, hence the presence of the original extension.
The buckle has 5 holes spaced 4 mm apart each, for optimum adjustment.
Monocrystalline quartz (Cf. Logo applied at the bottom of the dial), which was only fitted to the top of the range at the time: Grand Quartz, King Quartz, Lord Quartz, Superior Quartz, etc.

The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewelry shop called "K. Hattori" (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten?) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha (精工舎 Seikōsha?), meaning roughly "House of Exquisite Workmanship". According to Seiko's official company history, titled "A Journey In Time: The Remarkable Story of Seiko" (2003), Seiko is a Japanese word meaning "exquisite" or "success" ("exquisite" is usually written 精巧 from Chinese jīngqiǎo, while the meaning "success" is usually written 成功 from Chinese chénggōng).

Seiko is perhaps best known for its wristwatches, all of which were at one time produced entirely in-house. This includes not only major items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs but also minor items such as the oils used in lubricating the watches and the luminous compounds used on the hands and the dials.
