Building on the success of the now-iconic Longines Nautilus, a number of other watchmakers issued their own versions. Some emerged from larger makers such as Bulova and Camy, but a host of other, smaller Swiss companies got in the game as well.

This one was produced by Aureole (f. 1936), a small Swiss maker based in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It has all the classic features of the Nautilus, including the beefy lugs, cross-hatched crown, screw-back diver case, and most importantly, the wide, toothed bakelite bezel. These are complemented by a glossy black dial, dauphine hands, and lovely triangular indices infilled with lume.

Inside is the workhorse ETA 2452 automatic movement, very clean, recently serviced, and running strong.

The watch is all steel, all original (inc. crosshatched compressor crown), and unrevised.

The Longines Nautilus sells now for $15-18k. Here's an opportunity to own a version for a fraction of that price!

This is a 36mm watch, so good size for a vintage diver. 18mm lugs.

Dial: all original, glossy black dial. Triangular steel indices with original lume, which has developed a nice patina.
