The Shadow line, introduced in the early 1970s, marked a quiet but important shift for the brand—taking its minimalist philosophy and refining it into something more architectural and deliberate, without losing its sense of elegance. The case measures approximately 32 x 38mm and is remarkably slim at just 6mm thick. On the wrist, it wears balanced and composed, sitting close and flat in a way that feels intentional rather than delicate. The softly curved tonneau case reflects a distinctly 1970s design language, one that prioritizes flow and proportion over ornament. The white dial is where the watch’s restraint becomes most apparent. Finished with a subtle sunburst effect, it creates depth through light rather than detail. There are only two hands, the Universal Genève logo, and three discreet lines of white text—nothing more. It’s a clear expression of the brand’s belief that form and function, when handled correctly, don’t need embellishment. Powering the watch is Universal Genève’s legendary ultra-slim micro-rotor automatic movement, the very technology that defined the brand’s reputation. At the time, this was among the thinnest automatic movements in production, allowing UG to stand alongside names like Piaget, Longines, and even Patek Philippe in the ultra-thin category. It’s a technical solution driven by elegance rather than spectacle. The watch is in great condition with little scratches and no dents. Crystal is nice and clean, and dial is flawless. Watch is featured on custom suede straps with original buckle. Watch is currently running correctly at +/-5s a day and doesn’t need service anytime soon.
