Unlike traditional wristwatches, this piece was designed as a multi-function sports timer, part of Seiko’s professional Sports Timekeeping line developed from their role as Official Timekeeper for the Olympic Games. At its core, the watch is powered by the Seiko Caliber 8M32, a quartz movement built for precision and versatility. It offers chronograph, countdown timer, and current time modes, along with an audible “TIME UP” alert when the set countdown reaches zero — all of which made it a favorite among referees, coaches, and timekeepers during sporting events. The dial layout is one of the most visually striking aspects of the 8M32 series. It features color-coded zones — yellow and blue — representing the standard timing periods for different sports. The outer ring is printed with the names of preset sports such as Soccer, Rugby, Hockey, Handball, Australian Football, and Basketball, allowing quick selection of the correct match duration. This colorful, data-rich design is not only practical but captures the energy of early-90s Seiko sports engineering perfectly. Functionality is controlled via a rotating mode crown and two pushers: the upper-left pusher starts and stops timing, while the lower-left pusher records split times or resets the counter. The main red hand serves as the chronograph second hand, while the hour and minute hands show regular time when in Time Mode. The “TIME UP” marker at 12 o’clock signals the completion of the countdown with an audible beep. The stainless-steel case measures approximately 38 mm, giving it a wearable yet sporty presence. This example remains in great original condition, showing light wear consistent with age with no dents. Case and caseback shows well-preserved shapes. Dial is flawless. Crystal is clean and in great shape. It comes fitted on OEM rubber band. The watch has been serviced and all functions work correctly.
