The 1601 is one of the most iconic executions of the Datejust line, featuring the stainless steel case with 18k white gold fluted bezel and Rolex’s classic five-link Jubilee bracelet. Powering the watch is the cal 1575 self-winding movement, Rolex’s workhorse of the era, with hacking seconds. It remains one of the most robust and serviceable movements Rolex ever produced. The watch is fitted with acrylic crystal, which gives that nice vintage look and subtle distortion over the date window at 3 o’clock. The dial currently mounted is an aftermarket billiards-green dial with diamond hour markers. If the buyer prefers, I can help source an original OEM dial, though I chose to leave the green in place as it offers such a unique and eye-catching contrast against the white gold. Overall, the watch presents in good vintage condition. The case and bracelet show only the light, honest wear you’d expect from a nearly 50-year-old piece.
