[WTS] Vintage May 1974 Seiko Socie Geneva Stripe Emerald Dial 11-7950 Japan Made
For sale is this vintage Seiko Socie 11-7950, made in Japan in May of 1974. The "Socie" line by Seiko was a high-end series designed to capture beauty and elegance during the 70s. This is clear from the unique ovular case styling and the mesmerising Geneva stripe emerald dial, which really is the star of the show here. The dial pattern changes as it reflects light almost like a beautifully scaled fish shimmering beneath the water - I've never seen anything like it. The Seiko logo, Socie logo and the text at the bottom of the dial are printed in white. The markers are applied high polish with the 3, 6, 9 and 12 having a white stripe in the middle. The stainless steel case is in great condition and is in its original finish. The bezel is a dark gold colour. A simple time-only dress watch without a seconds hand to indicate to those around you that you are not in a hurry. Made in Japan, in the Daini factory (shown by the lightning bolt symbol on the bottom of dial and case back) during their fierce rivalry with the Suwa factory. The high-end and highly-jewelled (21J) cal. 11 movement beats at 21600 bph and is running very well. Hand-wind mechanical movement for that connection to the watch. It was meant for women but I would say it would look equally good on a man (with a smaller wrist). Condition is fantastic for its age (over 50 years old!) with minimal general wear and pretty clean crystal.
