Ultra-Deep Super Compressor 666 feet automatic diver.
Made in the U.S.A by Benrus, this is the twin crown ref. 6089, and was produced in the late 1960s. It was a serious bit of kit and was sold to be used. The 36mm case is a super compressor and designed by EPSA. It was given the name 'Ultra Deep' with a depth rating of 666 feet. 2 oversized cross hatched crowns are present, but the crown at 4 appears to be aftermarket (it is still cross hatched, but is not factory original). The crown at 2 sets the internal bezel, crown at 4 sets the time.
Super Compressor: As atmospheric pressure increases, the case back is compressed on the gaskets creating a tighter seal (Note; watch has not been pressure tested, so do not assume rating is still current). This was a major selling point back in the 1960s and Super-Compressor watches stand tall as some of the most coveted dive watches today. The case back is in great shape with clearly legible text and engravings. As you can see, even some of the original paint remains, indicating this piece has been worn sparingly.
The watch runs well and shows signs of a recent service. 6 months mechanical warranty is provided from the date of sale.
Overall this example is in great condition. There are no major dents or dings to the case, and the dial and hands are superb. The are some small wear marks, but these are commensurate with a watch of this age. Comes on a new 18mm rubber band as seen.
£1050 + Shipping. UK £14.95.
Will ship worldwide via Fedex Express/insured at cost. Ask for quote.
No returns unless mis sold.
