Up for sale is an Omega Seamaster 120 135.027 manual wind with 601 movement in what I would consider very good condition. The watch and I are located in Virginia in the United States. The watch is currently on an Omega 1069 bracelet with 524 end links which is correct for the reference and fits my 7.25" wrist with one micro adjust left in the clasp.
I bought this watch from the original owner who received it as a high school graduation present in 1972. His parents purchased it from Peacock Jewelry in Chicago.
When I asked him about the watch's history, he had the following to say: "Our neighborhood jeweler replaced the bracelet and main spring in the mid 80's. I wore the watch everyday until it stared [sic] running fast, I bought a quartz. So it went into the drawer for 25 years."
Regarding his career: "I worked in the hospitality industry and now automotive tires. That watch poured a lot of drinks and washed a lot of dishes." That tracks with the amount of grime on the watch when I first received it. The bracelet he references his jeweler replacing was an equally grimy Speidel that I promptly binned after removing it while wearing latex gloves.
I am listing the watch for $1,950 head only $2,350 with the bracelet net to me. Shipping to be discussed with buyer and I'll accept Paypal F&F or Zelle for payment. Face to face delivery is welcome in the Washington DC / Northern Virginia area with a coffee or beer on me.
Some details:
Case and Bezel - The case is in great shape, seems unpolished to me, and I'd say the bezel and pip are in the top 80% of surviving examples. The bezel turns freely but is nice and tight / not overly loose. The case shows wear commensurate with age with the most significant wear being a dent on the side of the upper left lug. The bezel retains it's teeth and isn't shaved down from wear as these bezels often are. The lume pip has a chiip taken out of it which I've done my best to capture in the photos.
The case measures 36mm in diameter (not including the crown, 37mm including the bezel), 42.5mm lug to lug, and has a 19mm lug width.
Movement - The caliber 601 movement was serviced in 2021 and has run well whenever I've worn it. The 259x serial number dates the movement to 1967, which is correct for this reference. I haven't timed this watch recently but will do so in the next week or so and update my listing with that info.
Dial and Hands - Dial and hands are in exceptional condition. I believe the lume was reapplied to the dial markers at 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11when the original owner had it serviced in the 80s, as that lume has aged to a yellower color than the hands and the lume surrounding the 12 o'clock marker. I've included a lume shot I've taken with my phone. All lume fades in 45 - 60 seconds after being charged with my phone's flashlight, as is expected with 50 year old tritium.
Bracelet and end links - The 1069 bracelet with 19mm 524 end links was purchased from an OF member, and is not original to the watch but is correct for the reference.
Crystal - The crystal has a fair amount of scratches, but I believe it's original to the watch and has an Omega logo present in the center of the plexi.
I've sold a handful of watches on OF and have over 500 positive ratings on ebay under the same username. Here's link to my feedback: https://omegaforums.net/search/26941458/?q=sonicosa&o=date&c[node]=10
I am a hobbyist and collector, not a dealer, so all sales are final unless I have grossly misrepresented anything. I'm happy to answer and questions, have my listing discussed on the appropriate board, etc. I will prioritize a sale to a member who is an active participant on the forum but will otherwise consider offers in the order in which they are received.
All photos were taken by me and are unedited.
Thanks for the space OF!!
