Up for sale today is my JLC Cal 463 Asking 550 OBO - US Shipping only I purchased it from Hess Fine Art back in 2021, they disclosed the case was swapped sometime back in period. This wasn’t that uncommon at the time so not too much of an issue. The case does seem to be stainless steel so it’s a decent upgrade. The dial and radium lume are original, however the radium inserts on the hands had to be removed due to it crumbling off due to age. Safer to remove the radium than have possible particles escape the case. The movement was serviced by Morrison Smith Jewelers here in NC. They are experts in vintage watches and the watch now runs about -12 a day, perfectly acceptable for a non-chronometer watch let alone from the 1940s. A parts/spares movement is included in the sale. The watch is on a new Forstner Bonklip band that will be included in the sale Dimensions are as follows 33mm wide (not including crown, 36 with) Lug width is 17.7ish (bonklip end links had to be slightly shaved to fit) Lug to Lug is 40mm This dial and movement combo is sometimes referred to as Luftwaffe JLC. Story goes that the Luftwaffe commissioned JLC to make watches and required that the movement serial match the case serial, something JLC did not normally do on the civilian watches. Given my example had its case swapped back in period, its impossible to tell but its interesting folklore. Simply selling to consolidate and I just don’t wear it as much as I used to, hoping it goes to someone who will enjoy it more and wants a good start into vintage watch world.
