[WTS] Omega Seamaster 176.001 Automatic Chronograph Caliber 1040, Silver Sunburst dial, 1972
With my eye on other pieces, and my Seamaster 176.001 spending too much time sitting out of the rotation (I now reach for the 176.007), I've decided to move this on. What I know of the watch mainly comes from a user on the OmegaForum (OF) whom I purchased it from roughly 2 years ago. * Beautiful radial brushed "sunburst" silver dial (type A3) * Stick hands, evenly aged lume * Crisp radial brushing visible across case top * Clear Omega crystal with Omega logo stamp * Caseback hippocampus is about 10% remaining * Blue leather racing strap made by Abel Court of Heuertime, contrast stitched to match the accents * Last serviced in April 2020 by Simon Freese Watchmakers * Joe (@OF) purchased it on eBay from a dealer in Portugal in 2019 Upon purchase I immediately put it on a bracelet, so the strap is exactly as I received it, tons of life left. The watch runs and all pushers/crown/date wheel operate as expected. It does run a little fast, but I haven't measured specifically as I do not have a timegrapher. The 176.001 was Omega’s first automatic chronograph, released in 1971. Serial number 31,643,XXX is in the correct range for this reference, putting it in the first half of 1972. I love the central chrono minutes and seconds hands and the 24-hour subdial with running seconds. I find this design much easier to track chrono minutes. The size is perfect and funky at 38.5mm diameter and 15.6mm thick, the crystal height adds so much character. This one is a treat to wear! I find the dimensions well-balanced. The thickness isn't noticeable at all given the short overall case size. I highly recommend the "Lincoln" bracelet from Uncle Straps (formerly Uncle Seiko) that mimics the original 1170 bracelet design. The case has some marks commensurate with age. The caseback has opener scratches, and the hippocampus logo is hard to see, there is a faint circular outline and some center detail present. The crystal has the Omega logo. The dial is beautiful, without marks, and the lume on the hands has aged nicely. Service receipt will be included with the watch. I've had many successful transactions over the years at Reddit Watchexchange, Watchuseek, and eBay. Not interested in trades unless you have another vintage Omega chronograph. Edit: formatting
