For sale is this stunning vintage Movado 19038 with M95 movement, unpolished ‘Borgel’ case and radium dial.

‘The case design of this Movado was created by François Borgel - a designer who created cases for Patek Philippe & Vacheron Constantin. the "FB" and key insignia is found inside the caseback. The in-house Movado M caliber family was released in 1938 as the world's first modular chronograph movement which means there is a chronograph module on top of one of their time-only calibers. By removing three easily accessible screws from the M95, the entire chronograph module can be removed as one piece. From there, servicing is relatively easy. One thing to note about the caliber M95 is that the bottom pusher starts and stops the chronograph and the top pusher resets. This is the opposite of conventional chronographs.’

This example has a beautiful, sharp, and unpolished case with original pushers and crown. Nice intact lines and bevels with natural wear marks. intact engraving of last 4 digits of serial number between lugs. Original dust cover is protecting the movement.

The dial has a natural harmonious patina with matching lume colors in hands and markers. Unfortunately, one of the hands has lost its lume. dial is signed "Switzerland" at 6.

The movement, manual wind Movado caliber M95, is working well. However, the chronograph function needs attention. The chrono hand often does not reset to zero, but to a couple minutes after zero.

Advised is a movement service since the service history is unknown as well.
