Rooted in a legacy that dates back to 1947, the Cricket wasn’t just innovative—it was revolutionary. This was the first mechanical alarm wristwatch that was genuinely loud, earning its iconic “Cricket” name with a confident, unmistakable chirp. By the time this S2321B emerged in the 1960s, the Cricket had already secured its place in history. Famously known as The President’s Watch, earlier Crickets were worn by U.S. Presidents including Truman, Eisenhower, and Nixon. Beyond politics, the model proved its toughness on expeditions as well—most notably during the 1954 ascent of K2. This wasn’t a watch that simply observed history; it actively participated in it. The S2321B carries that legacy forward in a refined mid-century form. Its stainless steel case measures approximately 34–35.5mm, compact yet purposeful, with sharply faceted lugs that give it a sculptural, architectural presence on the wrist. The silver linen-textured dial is understated and elegant, punctuated by the signature blue arrow alarm hand—a small but charming detail that hints at the watch’s playful mechanical heart. Powering the watch is Vulcain’s legendary manual-wind alarm movement, Caliber 120 (later MSR S2). The twin-barrel system separates timekeeping and alarm functions, both controlled through a single crown. Set the alarm, and the double caseback acts as a resonance chamber, producing the famously loud Cricket ring—still impressive even by modern standards. This example remains in great condition for its age, showing little scratches and no dents fitting for its age. The dial is clean and crisp with no sign of aging, the crystal is clear.
