This is a very unique piece from the renowned independent watchmaker, Vincent Calabrese, who is best know for designing the golden bridge for Corum. Although Calabrese garnered much attention early in his career through the creation of the Golden Bridge and Spatial Flying Tourbillon, his creations did not fare well against the economic downturn during the 70s. With the invention of the wandering jump hour mechanism used in the Baladin, Calabrese redefined the concept of jump hour watches. The Baladin was clever, novel and accessible, and it quickly became incredibly popular despite not having the mechanical finesse of his other creations. Ultimately, the Baladin became a cornerstone of his career. The Baladin in this configuration is arguably the most iconic. With the same elegant 34mm art deco bow tie shaped case used in many of his other pieces, this example wears well with a variety of different wrist sizes and can be worn as a unique twist of a traditional dress watch. Cosmetically, the watch is in good condition with normal signs of wear for its age. Mechanically, the watch is keeping good time. Service is not required at this time.
