Rolex Submariner reference 5513 R-Serial 1988 with Papers While the Submariner is hands down the most iconic diver, the 5513 specifically is arguably the champion of all Rolex divers. The production ran from the early 1960s until 1989. Within that span, there were 3 general variants. This is one of the last evolutions: tritium glossy dial, acrylic crystal, friction bezel insert and solid 93150 Oyster bracelet. Direct sunlight reveals the dial as patina’d into almost an aventurine like pattern—some dials age to look matte. Overall, the stainless steel case is as crispy, thick and as sharp as they come—no damage. While no service history it is also running as smoothly and as accurate as it can. The tritium lume on the dial is dead like it should be and all components appear to be period correct. It is common for papers to be signed and stamped 1-3years after the actual production of the watch—simply—it was sold in 1989. Bracelet: The original braceletet is very tight and has minimal stretch. It appears to be the original mate to the watch and the M clasp code also points to 1988.
