I am offering for sale my Berger Automatic vintage diver / tool watch from approx. 1970 with a great dial in the style of an old GUB Glashütte Spezimatic Diver with plenty of luminous material.

The watch is powered by a PUW 1561 automatic movement (Pforzheimer Uhren-Rohwerke) which starts immediately after a gentle shake and runs great with a deviation of approx. +10s/d. The date display changes instantly.

The cushion-shaped all stainless steel case with bevelled lugs has a diameter of approx. 38mm without and 40mm with the crown (lug-to-lug: 43mm, height approx. 11.5mm, lugs: 19mm) and is in very good condition for a tool watch of this age: The circular brushing on the front and the vertical brushing on the sides are in excellent condition, the edges of the case are sharp and without significant cracks. The case is a so-called RP TS 200 type (Richard Pfisterer, Pforzheim) which was originally water-resistant to 200 metres. The same type of case was also used for the GUB "Kampfschwimmer" (combat diver) watches, the only professional diving watches in the GDR that met the ISO 6425 standard - and had to be imported from Western Germany especially for these watches at the time.

The bezel with acrylic or Bakelite insert is completely intact and only slightly rubbed here and there. It turns in both directions with a good resistance which prevents unintentional adjustment. The acrylic crystal has a few scratches that can be buffed out if necessary.

My personal highlight, however, is the black dial with a lot of applied tritium luminous material, most of which has been preserved (only a little bit is missing at 9 and 10 o'clock). The same dial design was used on the now iconic (and wickedly expensive) diver's watches from Glashütte from 1969 and is still in use today for their re-editions. The beautiful handset contains luminous material on the hour, minute and seconds hand and the hour hand has a very distinctive arrow shape.

The watch comes on a new and unworn ribbed vintage-look Nato strap matching the style and colour of this watch very well. Hence, the watch is immediately ready-to-wear.

Price: I am asking EUR 190,- for the watch plus insured shippinga ccording to destination.

Eventually, here come the pics (all unedited).

The watch is located in Austria (EU) and so am I. I do have plenty of international references from various watch enthusiasts (also known here), so please feel free to ask for them.

Just for the records: I am a private collector and, therefore, the watch comes without any personal guarantee given by me. Nevertheless, I am offering to give a full refund less fully insured shipping expenses in case the piece sold would not be as described by me (within an inspection period of three days and to buyers from within the EU only due to the complex customs procedure in case of an overseas deal).

Thanks for reading and thanks to the Chronotrader platform and its host!

Kind regards,
F.Antl
