This IWC Portuguese reference IW544501 is a sweet hand-wound throwback release, IWC dipping into it’s vault to offer up a modern version while staying true to its vintage flare. It’s perfect for the guy who wants to add a dress piece, as we all are these days (even if that’s rocked with jeans!) while staying large and in charge at 44MM, although with the short lug to lug wears surprisingly well even on us average Joes, photographed on my 6.6 inch wrist. Case and crystal have light wear, including light wear to the crystal’s protective film seen at certain angles, and a few specs/marks to the dial, only seen up close, but all in presents beautifully. Such a great design! Watch only, on IWC leather strap with regular wear, and IWC buckle. The hand wound IWC movement is a beauty, on full display through the sapphire caseback. Service history unknown but winding and setting beautifully with timegrapher showing an incredible 0 seconds per day and an amplitude of 299!
