You’ve heard me say it once… okay maybe more than once, and I’m gonna keep saying it: the Rolex Explorer 1 is downright PERFECTION. From jeans to a dress shirt to a frickin’ mountain top this beauty does it all! And this is how I like to find ‘em, unpolished and with original papers! REF: 114270 SERIAL: Y368XXX DATE: 2002 DIAL: It’s a design that’s been copied by so many but this is where it began, the SWEETNESS that is the black 3-6-9 dial. And this is a stunning example, incredibly clean, including the sapphire crystal, just beautiful! CASE: 36mm case appears completely unpolished, incredibly sharp lines and nice brushing on the full, thick lugs. As expected on an unpolished piece, wear throughout mostly seen on the top portion of the smooth bezel and on the sides. A light clean up would do it but I really hope the next owner leaves it untouched, so great to find an original example including the case back sticker! MOVEMENT: Under the hood is the classic Rolex cal 3130 automatic movement. It’s a great upgrade from the older version in the Explorer 14270. Service history is unknown but running incredibly well with buttery hand winding and setting and great timegrapher numbers at 13 seconds a day with an amplitude of 303! BRACELET: Comes on its original, correctly date stamped 78690 Rolex oyster bracelet, which is another upgrade from the previous version, as this one has solid endlinks. Full 13 links here, so will fit up to app 8 inches. Wear throughout, as expected, including a few scratches on the end links but all in looks great! ACCESSORIES: Comes with original Rolex papers (showing a 2003 sales date… ah yes, it used to take a year or more for ADs to sell a Rolex!)
